Purpose

I feel like most purposeless things cease to exist. We all have a purpose, finding a purpose may even be a purpose of it’s own. Your home gives you shelter, both physical and emotional. Your car takes you from place to place. Your food nourishes you. You contribute at work, raise children, support your friends and family. The question I ask as a landscape designer is: what is the purpose of a landscape? To drain money out of your pocket to stay green? That wouldn’t do…

There are many purposes a garden can serve. And I want to show them to you, so you also can find the purpose of your garden.

A garden can:

· Help preserve ecosystems: preserve natives and support wildlife
· Provide owners with food
· Motivate families (including pets) to explore the outdoors and be more active
· Connect people and create memories

What is the ratio between money spent/enjoyment/outcome level you have? If you feel like you aren’t getting much, maybe it’s time to rethink the purpose of your outdoor space?

I want to highlight all of the above in our future blogs, so follow us on Facebook here and never miss any updates.
